Prepare yourself to take the regular shrimp to another level! These Chipotle BBQ Shrimp Cakes are going to blow your mind. Super easy to make that you'll only need your food processor (or blender) and your oven for this recipe!


Okay, this is a recipe that I genuinely wanted to make in years (I'm not even kidding!) and it finally happened! I made this during lent season so my freezer was loaded with seafood, and of course, shrimp is one of those essential foods.



From a seafood lover to another (or not), we all know that fish can be kind of plain and boring to cook sometimes, or maybe the ideas are just the same but I'm here to show you with this post that seafood is super versatile, you gotta get creative!



For this recipe I added that Chipotle BBQ taste thanks to Siete Foods new potato chips, in Chipotle BBQ flavor of course and guys, it goes so well with this recipe. It really saves the step of adding flavors and texture to the recipe since we are also blending it to create a flour base.



Stepping up the shrimp game with these easy Shrimp Cakes! They are super flavorful and they have a great consistency. We are using simple, and minimal ingredients. And of course, there's always an alternative, if you don't have those chips (although they are amazing with this recipe) you can also use almond flour.

As easy as that. Main reason why I tell you that this recipe is fail proof. Making sure it doesn't burn is a whole new story, but with your timer we are all set!

Pro tip! You can also air fry it for a couple of minutes once sliced and cool if you want an extra crispy edges, it's a game changer for real.

Chipotle BBQ Shrimp Cakes

Serves 9


Ingredients

  • 2 (300g) cups of chopped raw shrimp

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup of egg whites

  • 2/3 (84g) cup of ground Chipotle BBQ Siete Chips*

  • 1 tsp of sea salt

  • 1/4 tsp of black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp of garlic powder


Method

  1. Preheat the oven at 350F.

  2. In your food processor add all the ingredients.

  3. Pulse or blend until you get a smooth and homogeneous consistency.

  4. In a baking tray with a baking mat place 1/4 cup of the mix and with your shape them into a nice circular form.

  5. Bake for 18-20 minutes. They should be crispy and puffy on the outside.

  6. Let it cool down and serve with some vegetables or salsa.

*You can use almond flour or pork panko (gluten free alternative) instead.
