Cauliflower Crispy Pizza Steaks (Gluten Free & Keto)

By now I think that there's no such wrong way of eating cauliflower, right! This time I tried this epic recipe by coating it with paleo panko, covered in marinara sauce and with some cheese. Marinara and cheese are just combos that we can can't resist!

There's something about marinara sauce, garlic and cheese that instantly creates a magical and delicious recipe! And since cauliflower is been a staple in my fridge for a couple of... years? I thought it was time to share this amazing recipe.

About these Cauliflower Crispy Pizza Steaks:

This is extremely easy to make and extremely flavorful! The ingredients are also super basic and probably a list of ingredients you've already got in your pantry; marinara sauce, cheese and for the crispy factor I'm using crushed pork rinds.

The pork rinds, in this recipe work for the coating of the cauliflower along with some egg whites what will work as our glue. You can get them at the store or you can crush some classic pork rinds (I try to stick to humanely raised pork) or you can also simply use almond flour to keep this recipe low carb and gluten free.

What's in these Cauliflower Crispy Pizza Steaks?

As I mentioned earlier, I used a pork rind panko, marinara sauce with no sugar added, egg whites for the coating, cheese, seasonings and of course our main ingredient, cauliflower! The seasonings included in this recipe are real salt, black pepper, garlic powder and some fresh basil from my garden.

Cauliflower are actually a very fun veggie to prepare! As a nutritionist I know that healthy eating should be sustainable and convenient without sacrificing any taste.

The ideas go beyond plain boring salads, for example... I remember growing up, my mother served me steamed cauliflower with mayonnaise, sounds crazy but it works!

Veggies is super versatile; these amazing cauliflower steaks for example! Here other of my own recipes:

Overall, these are the ingredients needed for these Cauliflower Crispy Pizza Steaks:

  • Cauliflower

  • Marinara Sauce (no sugar added)

  • Crushed Pork Rinds

  • Egg Whites

  • Cheese

  • Black Pepper

  • Real Salt

  • Garlic

  • Fresh Basil

These were great as a snack, side dish and even as a vegetarian salad if you switch the pork rinds to almond flour! Remember to keep ingredients wholesome and pick wisely! I love having marinara sauce, with no sugar added on my pantry just because it goes so well in so many recipes, this is a clear example!

Nutritional Benefits From This Recipe:

Cauliflower adds some antioxidants called indol-3-carbinol that had been linked to avoid cellular mutation and to avoid oxidative stress. Cauliflower is also a source of vitamin C along with the marinara sauce thanks to the tomato in it!

And for spices, adding real salt, pepper and garlic really amps up any taste and aroma to the recipes; a must and another sneaky way to get some micronutrients such as minerals from the sea salt.

Fresh herbs are also a game changer when it comes to your recipes, it makes even more gourmet and special! In this occasion I added some fresh basil leaves from my garden.

The full instructions and ingredient list is listed below. This is just a super easy and flavorful recipe for you to enjoy and your body will love; source of fiber, nutrients and flavor!

The end result

These are easy to make, cheesy, flavorful and so addicting! I'm obsessed, and since I have always been a fan of marinara sauce, garlic, cheese and basil... all together is just a pleasant experience.

Thanks to the egg whites and baking method the cauliflower turns out being soft and easy to cut, not dry and so flavorful! The topping of the pork panko is just something else that increases the flavor and topped with marinara sauce and cheese.... Gosh! It was good.

I enjoyed mine for dinner or lunch, alone and by the forkful as a snack! A recipe worth making again no matter the season, while watching movies or to give them to the kiddos as a fun snack! At the end it's hard to resist these cheesy, crispy and flavorful cauliflower while getting some vitamin C from it.

Not boring or complicated! This are a great lunch for kids and grown ups. Pro tip: You can air fry them for a few minutes for an extra crispy experience!
